Thermal Conditioning Units

The XL Technology Systems, Inc. developed the industry's most advanced high pressure re-circulating Dense Gaseous Nitrogen Thermal Conditioning Unit. These TCU's are accepted as the most reliable and advanced unit on the market from both a technical and personnel safety perspective.

  • Off-the-shelf components, including the hermetically sealed blower and blower motor, allows minimal downtime if component replacement should be required. This also reduces the lead time for production of our NTCU and provides less expensive and readily-available spare parts.
  • The blower and blower motor operates at a much lower operating speed with comparable overall performance to other units. The slow speed results in less wear of the blower, including motor bearings.
  • Encapsulated blower motor eliminates the need for mechanical motor shaft seals.
  • The variable blower speed is controlled by the operator at their PC through a variable frequency drive that further increases the service life between routine preventive maintenance.
  • Ease of serviceability was also a consideration when developing XL's NTCU. The NTCU's internal components are conveniently mounted on the top plate. All routine maintenance items are easily serviced without system disassembly. If internal maintenance should be required, the top plate is simply unbolted, removed and placed on an inspection stand at a convenient working height. The inspection stand provides 360° access to all system components.
  • The NTCU's cryogenic components are housed in a vacuum insulated stainless steel enclosure. This eliminates the need for cumbersome, inefficient and maintenance-intensive mechanical insulation. With no mechanical insulation, the need for a GN2 purge to reduce the condensation of air on the cryogenic surfaces is eliminated.
  • Programmable logic controllers are built into every TCU with full safety interlocking, temperature and pressure control. Local touch screen panels provide human interface. Remote network control using supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system is available and a common requirement.
  • Standard sizes include 100 CFM, 300 CFM & 600 CFM models
  • Gas flow possible in excess of 800 CFM (600 CFM model @ 4200 rpm)
  • Controlled temperature range from -180° C up to +150° C
  • Ramp rates of up to 10° C
  • Variable Frequency Drive motors enable XL TCU's to operate from 2500 rpm up to 4200 rpm
