Custom Chambers of all Sizes
XL designs and furnishes custom vacuum chambers of all sizes and configurations. Our range of sizes includes systems small enough for testing satellite components to systems large enough to test fully assembled spacecraft. XL systems are designed with complex thermal shrouds and control systems suitable for testing space flight hardware, or with simple heater systems designed as "bake-out" chambers to ensure the characteristics of materials and compounds destined for space or to "clean" sub-assemblies prior to final assembly in space flight hardware.
We fabricate small to medium-sized chambers in our Massachusetts facility; medium to large chambers at the fabrication facilities of our large chamber partners, or site-build chambers with our partner Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I).
Our customers choose from cylinders, boxes, bell jar, and mailbox shapes depending on the size and shape of the payload to be tested or treated. Most chambers are constructed of 304 stainless steel, some with polished surfaces, and with strengthening ribs on the exterior depending on the size and shape of the chamber. Cylinders and spheres have structural strength from the curvature of the steel plate, while mailboxes and boxes need additional support to strengthen the large flat surfaces.
Common chamber options include:

Small cylinder chamber (approx 1m), manufactured and assembled in XL facility, shipped to site and placed into service. Chambers this size are perfect for laboratory and small part testing, or are great as bake out chambers. |

Small bell jar chamber (approx < 1m), manufactured and assembled in XL facility, shipped to site and placed into service. These complete systems are perfect for small facilities, laboratories and other sites where the test articles are small and space is at a premium. Larger versions of bell jar chambers are possible for larger test or bake out environments - where space and cost is important. |
